COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is designed to train learners in sewing machine handling, fabric cutting, garment stitching, alteration work, fashion basics, finishing, customer handling, and boutique-level work. It is suitable for learners who want to start home-based tailoring, ladies garment stitching, alteration service, boutique work, uniform stitching, or customized dress-making services.


AICPE will provide Course Completion Certificate for this course. No mark statement will be issued.

COURSE MODULES

MODULE 1: Sewing Machine & Basic Stitching

  • Introduction to sewing, tailoring work, and self-employment scope.

  • Knowledge of sewing machine types, parts, functions, and machine safety.

  • Threading, needle setting, bobbin setting, tension adjustment, and machine handling.

  • Basic hand stitches and simple machine stitching practice.

  • Fabric identification, thread selection, needle selection, and tool handling.



MODULE 2: Measurement, Drafting & Cutting Basics

  • Body measurement taking for basic ladies and children’s garments.

  • Introduction to drafting, pattern lines, seam allowance, folding, and marking.

  • Fabric laying, marking, cutting, and wastage control techniques.

  • Basic cutting practice for simple garment parts.

  • Understanding fitting, body shape, garment balance, and cutting accuracy.



MODULE 3: Basic Garment Making

  • Simple sewing practice for straight stitch, curve stitch, joining, hemming, and finishing.

  • Baby dress cutting and stitching.

  • Petticoat cutting, stitching, waist finishing, and bottom finishing.

  • Salwar cutting, stitching, belt preparation, and basic fitting.

  • Basic blouse structure, simple blouse cutting, and stitching introduction.



MODULE 4: Advanced Stitching & Design Skills

  • Kurti cutting, stitching, side fitting, neck finishing, and sleeve attachment.

  • Ladies suit preparation with basic cutting, stitching, and finishing.

  • Neck designs, sleeve designs, collar, cuff, zip, button, hook, and loop attachment.

  • Introduction to simple embroidery, lace work, piping work, and decorative finishing.

  • Machine maintenance basics, cleaning, oiling, needle care, and common stitching fault correction.



MODULE 5: Fashion Designing & Boutique Skills

  • Introduction to fashion designing, garment styling, and customer-based design selection.

  • Fabric selection according to body type, season, occasion, and garment use.

  • Color combination, contrast selection, lace matching, and design presentation.

  • Designer kurti preparation with style variation and finishing.

  • Alteration work including length adjustment, fitting correction, sleeve correction, and repair work.



MODULE 6: Professional Order Handling & Business Skills

  • Boutique management basics, order record keeping, delivery planning, and customer communication.

  • Customer handling, measurement discussion, design finalization, and fitting trials.

  • Dress finishing techniques for neat, saleable, and professional appearance.

  • Fall, pico, uniform stitching, bridal dress basics, designer blouse basics, and advanced suit designing.

  • Pricing, marketing, WhatsApp promotion, local networking, repeat customers, and home-based business planning.





ASSESSMENT PATTERN

Assessment will focus on practical skill, oral understanding, finishing quality, and business readiness.

  • Machine Handling Assessment
    Learner will demonstrate threading, needle setting, bobbin setting, stitching control, and machine safety.

  • Measurement & Cutting Assessment
    Learner will take measurements, mark fabric, cut garment parts, and explain cutting accuracy.

  • Garment Stitching Assessment
    Learner will stitch selected garments such as baby dress, petticoat, salwar, kurti, blouse, or ladies suit.

  • Finishing & Alteration Assessment
    Learner will demonstrate hemming, fitting correction, zip/button attachment, lace/piping, and final finishing.

  • Design & Presentation Assessment
    Learner will present a garment with fabric choice, color combination, design idea, pricing, and customer use.
